Normal (Simple) Extractions
A normal, or simple, extraction is performed on a tooth that is fully visible in the mouth and can be removed without surgical cutting.
When Is It Needed?
- The tooth is badly decayed
- The tooth is loose due to gum disease
- The tooth is damaged but still above the gum line
- Preparation for orthodontic treatment
How the Procedure Is Done
- The area is numbed using local anaesthetic
- Special instruments are used to gently loosen the tooth
- The tooth is removed with controlled pressure
- The socket is cleaned and allowed to heal naturally
What to Expect
- The procedure is usually quick
- You may feel pressure but should not feel pain
- Mild discomfort or swelling may occur afterward
Healing Time
Initial healing usually takes 4–10 days, with complete healing continuing over several weeks.
