Mobilization and migration of endogenous stem cells (from your own bone marrow) is a normal physiological phenomena. Subsequent to a signal sent by an inflamed or degenerating tissue (or organ), bone marrow stem cells would migrate out of the bone marrow and then through the bloodstream to target organs. In the target organs, stem cells undergo differentiation (they become) into fully functional target cells.
