PRP (PLATELET RICH PLASMA)
What is PRP?
Blood is mainly liquid, called plasma; it also contains small solid components (red cells, white cells, and platelets).
PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma is blood containing a concentration of growth factors. It stimulates cellular tissue regeneration to dramatically accelerate healing platelets that mimic the wound-healing and bone grafting process to form new collagen.
Increased concentration of growth factors in the PRP activates the concentrated platelets that mimic the wound-healing process to form new collagen.
How does the procedure work?
Your blood will be drawn and inserted into a Centrifuge machine, which will separate your blood into 3 different parts.
The Plasma will be inserted back into the surgical area where applicable to stimulate the healing process.
Is PRP therapy treatment safe?
Since the platelets come from the patient’s own blood, there is absolutely no possibility of allergic reaction or other side effects.
The only precaution you need to take is to stop any anti-inflammatory or blood thinning medications while PRP is administered.
